Oswego Township officials win three media awards

Honored for website, social media use and newsletter

Oswego Township was awarded three media awards at the 2018 Township Officials of Illinois conference.

The township won best Illinois Township Website, best Illinois Township use of social media and best newsletter.

“We totally redesigned our website this year. Our newly elected board felt that we needed to create a more informative, interactive and visually appealing site that would be useful to all our residents regardless of age,” said Township Supervisor Brian LeClercq. “We consider our website an introduction to the township. When people want to know about your government body, the first thing they do is search your website. They should be able to find the information quickly and easily.”

“This is truly an honor for our township. We all worked hard to make sure our website would be informative and easy to navigate,” said Bob Rogerson, highway commissioner.

Some of the changes included expanded cemetery information and history; links to community services; a township calendar and announcement page to help keep residents informed; an improved Highway Department section; and a transparency page with meeting agendas, minutes and financial information.

Links are available for the unincorporated residents to sign up to Blackboard Connect to get more information through phone calls, texts and emails.

The township has also incorporated a jobs page to help advertise job openings within the township.

While the township does not currently have a Facebook page, officials are actively sharing information on the many community Facebook pages within the township.

Newsletters can be found on the website at oswegotownship.com.
