Channahon police arrest sex offender arrested on registry violation charge

Suspect was convicted of public indecency, exposure

A homeless sex offender was arrested after Channahon police allegedly caught him not living at the address provided during his most recent registration.

About 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Channahon police detectives took into custody Daniel R. Fischer, 55, in the 1900 block of Cherry Hill Road in Joliet, according to a news release. A public tip led detectives to a business on Cherry Hill Road. Will County sheriff deputies assisted Channahon police in finding Fischer.

An arrest warrant for Fischer was issued on Dec. 10 after an investigation by Channahon police allegedly revealed Fischer was not living at the address provided during his most recent registration as a sex offender.

Fischer has been registering as a sex offender since at least 2006, according to the state sex offender registry.

Fischer was convicted in DuPage County of public indecency and exposure, according the registry’s website. Fischer was 42 and the victim was 49 at the time of the offense.

Fischer has been charged with one count of failing to register as a sex offender. He was taken to the Will County jail. His bond has been set at $100,000.

Fischer was convicted of violating the sex offender registry and failing to report weekly or having no fixed address.

In 2013, Joliet police discovered Fischer had been registering with Joliet police while living in Minooka.
