OREGON – Emmalyn Ruth Spickler, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at Oregon Living & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 28, 1938, the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Carr) Jones. She attended Oregon schools and graduated from Mount Morris High School. She married Delbert E. Spickler on Feb. 16, 1957, in Mount Morris. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2015. Emmalyn had formerly worked at the Oregon Sewing Factory, loved to crochet afghans for the residents at Serenity Hospice & Home, and was known for her sugar cookies, which she shared with everyone. Emmalyn served many families in the Oregon area as a babysitter for more than 40 years. She was a member of the RiverStone Christian Church in Oregon.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Carol) Spickler and daughter, Charlene (Todd) Ruthe, all of Oregon; brother, Len (Anne) Jones of Oregon; sister-in-law, Darlene Jones; three grandchildren, Craig (Jennifer) Spickler, Erin (Shawn) Gabbert, and Kyle (Haley) Ruthe; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kennedy and Natalie Spickler, and Logan and Emmalyn Gabbert; and many nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley; and eight siblings.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Craig Arnold, pastor of RiverStone Christian Church of Oregon, officiating. Burial will be at Grand Detour Cemetery.
A memorial fund is established for Unity Hospice of Rochelle.
