Zelma Book

STERLING – Zelma Book, 96, of Sterling died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born on Nov. 19, 1922 in Waupun, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Catherine (Wulf) Zigler. She married Orrin D. Book on June 15, 1941 in Sterling. He died on Dec. 6, 1991.

Survivors include two daughters: Patricia McNinch of Appleton, Wisconsin and Judy (Cliff) Bailey of Cleveland, Tennessee; two sisters: Beverly Goodman of Santa Monica, California and June Connelly of Rochester, New Hampshire; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Ernie Little and Pam.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: David Welker, Daniel Welker and Gerald Zigler; her sister, Jean Gipson; and an infant sister.

A gathering of friends and family will take place 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Ave. in Sterling. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Arnold Owens, pastor of Science Ridge Mennonite Church, officiating. Burial will conclude at Science Ridge Cemetery.
