Sally L. Wallace

WALNUT – Sally Louise Wallace, 63, of Walnut, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Rock River Hospice after a battle with ovarian cancer.

Sally was born Nov. 16, 1955, the daughter of Kenneth and Alice (Emmerson) Rodgers. She grew up west of Manlius playing in her grandpa Joe’s Osage Park, located on the canal. She graduated in 1974 from Manlius High School. She was united in marriage to Jeffrey Wallace on Jan. 28, 1978, in Sheffield. Their wedding was delayed by one day due to the blizzard of 1978.

She was the proud mother of four children. She enjoyed the country life, country music, country line dancing, drinking coffee, loved snowmen, her Dodge Intrepid and Charger, the annual Rodgers family reunion, her Chihuahua, Kenny, and watching her grandchildren. She created Walnut’s slogan, “Where Community Pride Leads to Growth” that was used for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jeffrey Wallace of Walnut; her father, Kenneth Rodgers of Sheffield; her brother, David (Deb) Rodgers of Sheffield; three children, Danielle Wallace of Walnut, Suzy (Ben) Santella of Naperville and Darrell (Leslea) Wallace of Sterling; two grandchildren, Andrew and Emma Wallace of Sterling; and one son-in-law, James Sergeant Jr. of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Sergeant, her mother, Alice Rodgers; her grandparents; and her infant brother, Joseph.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut, with a celebration of life beginning at 4 p.m., with Gary Brooks, pastor, officiating.
