Kristen Slutz

PRINCETON — Kristen Caroline Slutz, 33, of Princeton passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018.

Kristen was born at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton on Aug. 16, 1985, to Gerald and Mary (Cuffe) Slutz.

She was a graduate of Princeton High School, class of 2003. After graduation, she attended Illinois Valley Community College and received an associate degree. She also received her X-Ray Technician Certification from Sauk Valley Community College.

While attending college, she worked at the Walmart Supercenter for 10 years, from the time it opened, and for one of her favorite aunts, Bonnie Cuffe-Stangel, at the Garden Room Grill for over 15 years. She started working at Perry Memorial Hospital as a X-ray technician in 2013.

She was a member of the Jaycees and 4-H for many years, and she was also in charge of the Relay for Life at Sauk Valley for several years. She enjoyed helping out within her community and volunteering. She was the type of person who always had time to help anyone out, especially her family and friends.

Kristen enjoyed crocheting, any and everywhere, including airplanes, where her luggage with her yarn would often weigh more than her clothing. Crocheting was a skill passed on from her mother. She was incredibly crafty and could always turn nothing into something beautiful. She had the ability to see the beauty in almost everything.

She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, from their sporting events to going to the movies. She loved going to concerts and loved Hanson, being a proud Fanson member and following the band, attending several concerts. Kristen also had a favorite annual event she shared with her mother and other family members, which was Country Thunder at Twin Lakes, Wis., a four-day country concert event that created a lifetime of memories. She was a huge Harry Potter fan, and a friend to all and best friend to many. She did not separate friends from family and considered the people she worked with her family as well. She was an amazing daughter, a fantastic sister, wonderful aunt and loving friend, who will be missed by all she came in contact with.

Kristen is survived by her mother, Mary Slutz; two brothers, Adam Slutz of Princeton and Jeremy (Kristi) Slutz of Dover; her paternal grandmother, Margie Slutz of LaMoille; three nephews, Jaxson Slutz, Liam Slutz and Hudson Slutz, and two nieces, Madalynn Slutz and Addison Slutz, all of Dover; four aunts, Sharon (Roger) Kerr, Sandra (Stanley) Morris, Alice (Mike) Batson and Bonnie (Jack) Cuffe-Stangel; five uncles, Mike (Deedee) Slutz, Mike (Marilyn) Cuffe, John (Cindy) Cuffe, Bob (Gail) Cuffe and Jim (Patty) Cuffe; as well as many cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Slutz (2015); her maternal grandparents, William and Caroline Cuffe; her paternal grandfather, Earl Slutz; as well as various cousins, aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Ye Olde Underground Inn Banquet Hall in Princeton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

The Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.norbergfh.com.
