JACKSONVILLE — Erica Jean Adams, 26, of Jacksonville, Ill., passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield after fighting a brave battle of Glioblastoma Multiforme, a form of brain cancer.
Erica was born July 16, 1992, in Sterling, the daughter of Jeffrey and Kathryn (Wallace) Adams.
She was a 2010 graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Ill., and was currently employed there at the time of her death.
Erica loved to travel with family and friends, doing tie dye and advocating for the deaf.
She is survived by her parents, Jeff and Kathy of Tampico; her paternal grandmother, Ida Mary Adams of Walnut; her maternal grandparents, Neale and Rita Wallace of Walnut; a brother, Joe (Amber) Adams of Tampico; her sister, Jenny (Josh Ackerman) Adams of Ohio, Ill.; her boyfriend, Josh Marcure (his children, Lezlee and Karma) of Springfield; a niece, Kathryn Ackerman; two nephews, Jace and Cale Adams; five uncles, Terry (Diana) Wallace, Tim (Teri) Wallace, Greg (Joyce) Wallace, Charles Adams and Paul (Nona) Adams; two aunts, Joyce Spencer and Patti (Keith) Buercklin; and numerous cousins. She also left behind her beloved dogs, Deuce and Honey.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles Adams; her great-grandparents, including special great-grandmother, Marjorie Hardersen; and Erica’s unborn child.
Private family services were held. A Celebration of Life for all family and friends will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Green River Golf Course in Walnut. Please feel free to wear tie-dye to honor Erica’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
