Jay D. Bulfer

AMBOY – Jay D. “Jaybird” Bulfer, age 61, of Amboy, died Friday, January 24, 2019, at University of Wisconsin Hospitals in Madison.

He was born July 22, 1957, in Mendota, the son of Gilbert and Mary Rita (Fitzgerald) Bulfer. Jay was a Forklift Mechanic for Del Monte Foods in Mendota for 43 years prior to his retirement in 2017.

Jay enjoyed playing pool, hunting, riding his motorcycle, drawing, and fishing with his granddaughter.

He married Vicky Anderson in Dixon on October 9, 1974.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents; his son David Bulfer; his brother Steve Bulfer; his father-in-law Leonard “Andy” Anderson; and his brother-in-law Randy Anderson.

Survivors include his wife Vicky of Amboy; his daughter Becky (Jeremiah) Nantz of Amboy; his granddaughter Summer Marie; 3 brothers, Paul (Pam) Bulfer of Missouri, Dan (Cindy) Anderson and Mike (Mary) Anderson, both of Amboy; his mother-in-law Gloria Anderson of Amboy; his best friends Brad Kessel and Chuck Jeanblanc, both of Amboy; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Rev. Chuck Jeanblanc, officiating. Fellowship meal will follow at the Sublette Community Building. Cremation will follow, with burial of cremains at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Sublette.

A memorial has been established.
