Prep Roundup: Dukes roll past Cards

Marcos top Amboy; Warrior bowlers take third

The Dixon Dukes rolled to a Big Northern road win Friday night, defeating the Stillman Valley Cardinals 50-29.

Beau Bailey led a balanced Dixon attack with 13 points, while Derian Duncan and Aaron Duncan each added 10. Six Dukes scored at least four points each, and they led 18-8 after one quarter, 28-17 at halftime, and 37-21 after three quarters before a 13-4 run in the fourth.

Matthew Mandzen scored a game-high 14 points for the Cardinals.

Polo 73, Amboy 41: The Marcos handled the Clippers for the fourth time this season.

Brady Webb and Braiden Soltow each scored 17 points to lead Polo, and Justin Young added 12.

Mitchell McLaughlin led Amboy with 16 points, and Hunter Zimmerly added nine.

Milledgeville 69, AFC 47: Treyton Selman poured in 30 points as the Missiles cruised in the second half for an NUIC East victory over the Raiders.

Selman scored 19 points alone in the third quarter, while AFC only scored 13 points in the third. Blayne Kappes drilled six 3s for 18 points, while Nathan Rahn added 11 points for Milledgeville.

Ethan Drew dropped in 16 points to pace the Raiders. Henry Rod helped with nine points, and Sawyer Murphy had eight.

Princeton 61, Bureau Valley 60: Nate Paup (16 points), Kale Barnett (14) and Tyler Gustafson (12) reached double figures for the Storm, but they were edged on the road by the rival Tigers.

Jamie Reinhardt led Princeton with 20 points.

Fulton 53, Riverdale 48: The Steamers picked up a TRAC West home win against the Rams.

Eastland 69, West Carroll 60: Reid Janssen poured in 24 points for the Cougars in a road win against the Thunder.

Kellen Henze (16), Kaden Henze (15) and Drew Burkholder (10) sldso reached double figures for Eastland.

Ryan Gengenbach tossed in 36 points for West Carroll, and Michael Popkin added 20.

Faith Christian 76, Fulton Unity 54: Levi Schuler had 19 points, six rebounds and three assists as the Falcons handled the visiting Knights.

Louis Throw had a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards, as did Evan Fassler with 12 points and 10 boards, for Faith Christian.

Girls basketball

Kewanee 57, Oregon 29: The Hawks couldn’t keep up with the Boilermakers in a nonconference road loss.

Olivia Lambrigtsen scored a team-high 11 points for Oregon.

Hall 35, Newman 31: The Comets were outscored 11-5 in the fourth quarter as the Red Devils rallied for a Three Rivers East win in Spring Valley.

Jenna Johnson’s nine points paced Newman (17-9, 5-4), while Alejandra Padilla scored seven. The Comets led 9-6 after one quarter, 18-16 at halftime, and 26-24 after three periods.

Jaclyn Cinotte had 11 points to lead Hall, while Gabby Englehaupt added 10.

Erie-Prophetstown 59, Bureau Valley 52: Emma Camper scored 17 points, Skylasr Steimle had 16, and Jenna Saad added 11 as the Panthers held off the Storm.

Saige Barnett led Bureau Valley with 28 points, and Emily Fordham added 14.

Aquin 62, AFC 59: Jaynee Prestegaard’s triple-double wasn’t enough to lead the Raiders to an upset of the Bulldogs in Freeport.

Prestegaard finished with 32 points, 11 rebounds, 12 blocked shots, five assists and four steals for AFC, while Brittney Mundell added 10 points and Tristan Munroe chipped in eight. The Raiders led 32-28 at halftime before Aquin rallied in the second half.

Abby Barr scored 27 points to lead Aquin.

Forreston 70, Milledgeville 15: The Missiles trailed 19-4 after one quarter and 43-6 by halftime in an NUIC East road loss.

Samantha Hartman scored eight points to lead Milledgeville.

Kara Erdmann had 29 points to pace the Cardinals.

Orion 69, Morrison 48: Peyton Tegeler had 25 points, and Claire Coons added 11 for
the Fillies in a TRAC West road loss to the Chargers.

Danielle Taets poured in 26 points for Orion.

Amboy 52, Polo 25: The Clippers set up a showdown with Aquin for the NUIC East crown following an easy home win against the Marcos.

Abi Payne led Amboy with 17 points, and Noelle Jones added 12.

Lizzy Stamm had nine points for Polo.

Eastland 51, Pearl City 16: Erin Henze paced a balanced attack with 15 points, five assists and five steals as the Cougars crushed the visiting Wolves.

Karlie Krogman had 13 points and six rebounds for Eastland, and Lydia Coatney added 11 points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists.

Faith Christian 59, Fulton Unity 16: Kara Hodson had a huge game with 16 points and 17 rebounds as the Falcons won in Grand Detour.

Gabby Rydzynski also posted a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards, while Meghan Van Buren added 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Girls bowling

Golden Warriors third at conference: The Sterling bowlers rolled a 5,996 to claim third place at the final Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference meet in Rochelle.

Sycamore, with the top three individuals including individual champion Maddie Lathrop with a 1,315 series, took the team title with a total pinfall of 6,993, beating second-place Morris by 925 pins.

Olivia Zinanni led the Golden Warriors with a 1,114 series, which included a 235 final game.

Zoey Paone had a 1,095 series with a 237 in her fifth game. Grace Schultz had a 212 opening game to record a six-game series of 1,015.

Kyleigh Glazier (977), Kylie Bresley (928) and Elayna Felder (867) rounded out the Warriors’ lineup.
