Tasty Sushi opens in Cary shopping plaza

Restaurant offers Japanese, Chinese, Thai fare

A new sushi spot has opened in the village of Cary.

It’s called Tasty Sushi and it’s located at 630 Route 14, in the same shopping center as Jewel.

The restaurant is operated by Algonquin resident Kevin Chen, who moved to the U.S. from China 18 years ago.

Chen, 39, opened the sushi restaurant in Cary after talking to a friend who lives in Cary and works as a real estate broker, he said.

The restaurant offers a menu packed with Japanese, Chinese and Thai fare.

Hot appetizers include steamed edamame, pan-fried gyoza (Japanese potstickers), shot shell crab, Thai coconut shrimp, crab Rangoon and more. Diners looking for a cold appetizer can order oyster shooters, seared tuna, five pieces of chef-selected sushi and other fish-based items.

The sushi menu includes Japanese classics such as the Chirashi bowl (15 pieces of sashimi selected by the chef with sushi rice on the side) and a trio of “Lover” options for diners that enjoy salmon, tuna or yellowtail; each option comes with five pieces of sushi, nine pieces of sashimi and a roll.

The restaurant’s roll menu includes the signature Tasty Roll (king crab, avocado with lobster salad on top, served with eel sauce) and the more exotic Royal Lobster Roll (lobster, tempura, apple, cream cheese, avocado and cucumber, wrapped with pink soy paper and served with eel and spicy mayo sauce).

Tasty Sushi also offers ramen Japanese noodle soup prepared with chicken, roast pork or seafood.

The menu is available at tastysushicary.com. The restaurant takes online orders and delivers.

Tasty Sushi is open from 10:45 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10:45 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
