Steinhafels is open and ready for business.
The furniture and mattress store opened its doors Tuesday at its new Crystal Lake superstore. A grand opening is scheduled for Feb. 15.
The 100,000-square-foot establishment opened in the space that used to be a Kmart at 5846 Route 14.
“It’s going really good, and we’re excited to see so much traffic in the store,” general manager Christina Weyers said. “People are excited. They’ve been watching us being built for months now. It’s exciting to get people in here to see the products in our showroom. We are open for business.”
The Crystal Lake location is the Wisconsin-based company’s second Illinois store. The other northern Illinois location is in Vernon Hills.
Steinhafels is the fastest-growing furniture and mattress retailer in Wisconsin, according to the company’s website, and it is the state’s leading furniture and mattress retailer.
Weyers said customers Tuesday admired the store’s “beautiful” offerings. She said there are hundreds of unique and custom items in stock to furnish any home, no matter the style.
“They love the selection so far,” Weyers said, adding that she anticipates some “great traffic” from Route 14 motorists.
Steinhafels is located in the Crystal Point shopping center, which is home to a new Ulta Beauty store and T.J. Maxx.
“We’ve got some great neighbors,” she said. “I think the shopping center has really come a long way from what it used to be five, 10 years ago.”
The new store is divided into sections, including dining, mattresses, reclining and hospitality. There also is an outlet space with discounted floor models and out-of-season offerings.
“In our building, we like to group categories together,” Weyers said. “We have dozens of different vendors. ... We have things for all budgets [and] price points available. You can find something cost-friendly or order something beautiful and elegant.”
She said store associates are trained to help clients get the “home of their dreams.”
On Feb. 15, Steinhafels will offer a variety of deals and promotions, including the chance to win a three-year Chevy Equinox lease through Martin Chevrolet.
There also will be a meet-and-greet and book signing with HGTV stars Erin and Ben Napier of “Home Town.” Doors will open at 10 a.m.
Sales consultant Gary Sookikian said he “loves” his job.
“It’s great,” he said. “Every single person has something they can find for themselves. It’s awesome.”
