Why Goodman was selected: The Lincoln-Way East sophomore helped the Griffins to win the Large Team division title at the IHSA Competitive Cheerleading finals in Bloomington with a score of 91.56. It was East's fourth Large Team state title in six years.
Herald-News sports writer Curt Herron talked with Goodman.
Herron: What do you like the most about competitive cheerleading?
Goodman: I love the people on the team, the coaches and the family you create. I just love doing it because it's something that I'm really passionate about.
Herron: What do you like most about this year's team?
Goodman: This team is really special because we didn't just want to win, we wanted to do it for each other. When you have that, it makes everything a lot easier and a lot more fun.
Herron: What do you like most about competing for Lincoln-Way East?
Goodman: Growing up, I always wanted to compete for Lincoln-Way East. I love the people and this is such an amazing program in all aspects.
Herron: What do like to do in your free time?
Goodman: Hang out with my friends and family.
Herron: What's your favorite type of food and restaurant?
Goodman: Ribs. My favorite restaurant is Texas Roadhouse.
Herron: What's your favorite TV show and movie?
Goodman: 'Pretty Little Liars'. I like a lot of movies.
Herron: Who's your favorite sports team and athlete?
Goodman: My family loves the Cubs, so I also like them. And Anthony Rizzo.
Herron: What's your favorite type of music and artist?
Goodman: I like a lot of music, like pop and rap, and my favorite artist is Travis Scott.
Herron: Where's the most interesting place you've been and where would you like to visit?
Goodman: I went to the southern-most point in the U.S., Key West, Florida, and that was cool. I'm going to Mexico this year and would like to visit Europe and California.
