Richard L. Davis

STERLING – Richard L. Davis, 86 of Sterling died Saturday February 9, 2019 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.

He was born on December 7, 1932 in Courtland, NY the son of Orval and Beulah (Mayers) Davis. He married Lola Jeanette Koster on July 13, 1951 in Sterling. She died August 4, 2016. He was employed for several years at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co in Sterling retiring from the caster. In his earlier years he coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in Sterling. He was a life-long St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Surviving are his children: Ron Davis of Milledgeville, Peg Landes of Sterling, Gary (Margie) Davis of Sterling, Mike (Kelli) Davis of Mesa, AZ, Scott (Susan) Davis of Greensboro, NC and Karen (Ron) McNinch of Rock Falls; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be held on Friday February 15, 2019 from 2-3 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue in Sterling. The funeral will follow at 3 PM with the Reverend Kenneth Zuithoff officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rock Rover Hospice and Home or to the Salvation Army.
