Why Jezik was selected: One week after the Coal City junior wrestler won his first state championship at 182 in Class 2A and his third medal overall, he wrapped up a 28-0 season by helping the Coalers to claim a second-place finish at the dual team finals in Bloomington.
Herald-News sports writer Curt Herron talked with Jezik.
Herron: What do you like the most about wrestling?
Jezik: Probably the individual aspect since you can't blame it on anyone else, since either you lose or you win.
Herron: What do you the like most about this year's team?
Jezik: Having fun wherever we went, even when it was serious. The team and coaches always were having fun, so it was a great time.
Herron: What do you like the most about competing for Coal City?
Jezik: It's been great every single year since we represent our school well. And how we act shows characteristics about our team, whether we win or lose.
Herron: What do you want to do in the future?
Jezik: I'm definitely going to attend a four-year university and probably try to play sports in college.
Herron: What do you like to do in your free time?
Jezik: I'm always doing something sporting-wise.
Herron: What's your favorite sports team and who's your favorite athlete?
Jezik: The Chicago Bears and Walter Payton.
Herron: Who's someone that you would like to meet?
Jezik: Tom Brady.
Herron: What's your favorite type of food and place to eat?
Jezik: Chicken and steak. And Subway.
Herron: What's your favorite TV show?
Jezik: 'Criminal Minds'.
Herron: What's your favorite type of music and artist?
Jezik: I like any type of music. Eminem.
Herron: Do you have any pets?
Jezik: I have a Labrador whose name is Vador.
Herron: Where's the most interesting place you've been and also you would like to visit?
Jezik: I went on a Lake Erie fishing trip. Somewhere in Asia.
