Cathy Lynn (Knox) Spates

ROCKFORD – Cathy Lynn (Knox) Spates, 58, of Rockford, IL, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 23, 2019, surrounded by friends.

Cathy resided in Rockford, IL. She was born in Morrison, IL, on November 24, 1960, daughter of Spencer J. and Janice Rae (Dykhuis) Knox. She was educated in Morrison and graduated from Morrison High School. Cathy married Charles Spates on April 18, 2011. Cathy was a member of Heartland Community Church in Rockford, where she was active in Bible studies and small groups. She worked for Visiting Angels in home health care. Cathy enjoyed cooking and sharing inspirational songs and verses. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Cathy will be dearly missed by her parents, Spencer and Lynn Knox; daughter, Jennifer Knox; son, Jason (Vanessa) Knox; grandchildren, Demarkus, Zayvean, Billy Jr., Dylan, Camryn, Devin and Gia; brother, Tim (Marlene) Knox; sisters, Ann (Curt) Bauman, Laura Cassaro, Kim (Ben) Becker, Kristy (Joe) Brandon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; mother, Janice Swanson; stepfather, Frank Cassaro; and nephew, Evan.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Road, Rockford, IL, 61108. Burial will conclude at Greenwood Cemetery, Rockford, IL.
