Betty J. Mayfield

STERLING – Betty J. Mayfield, 70, of Sterling went to dance with the angels on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.

She was born to the late Kermit and Angeline (Rosik) Hansen on January 27, 1949 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She graduated from Denmark High School in Denmark, Wisconsin in 1967. She enjoyed her job working as the secretary at the First Presbyterian Church in Dixon.

Survivors include her Daughter, Nicole (Petersen) Sofolo; Son-in-law, Troy Stockton; and granddaughter, Kamryn Stockton of Polo; grandson, Daniel Stockton of Mesa, AZ; sister, Susan (Don) Steinberger of Mishicot, WI; nephews, Bill (Anita) Laurent and Greg Steinberger; nieces, Debbie (Marty) Ritch and Penny (Dave) Geitner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Laurent and brother-in-law, Joseph Laurent.

Betty was a wonderful cook and loved to welcome and entertain people in her home. She enjoyed dancing, music, reading, planting flowers, spending time outdoors, and decorating her home for Christmas. She was a proud member of the Dixon Elks Lodge where she made and enjoyed the company of many friends.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Dixon on March 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of her life at 12 PM at the Elks Lodge in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the First Presbyterian Church of Dixon and the Dixon Elks Lodge.
