The village of Elwood filed a lawsuit against the company associated with NorthPoint Development over a proposed bridge over Route 53.
In February, East Gate-Logistics Park Chicago, the entity associated with NorthPoint, notified the village that it intended to move forward with building the bridge over Route 53 at Walter Strawn Drive, according to a news release.
East Gate asserts that a 2007 annexation agreement obligates Elwood to cooperate and assist with the bridge construction, but the village disagrees, according to the release.
The village pre-emptively filed a lawsuit in Will County Circuit Court on Friday to have the court determine the parties’ rights and obligations.
“We are confident the court will agree the village has no obligation to assist East Gate,” according to the release.
