An Algonquin house fire killed a family dog Friday, according to authorities.
At 7:20 p.m., the Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched to the structure fire at 1657 Heather Drive in Algonquin.
Arriving crews found heavy fire coming from the front of the two-story single-family home, according to a press release.
Firefighters launched an aggressive attack. The fire was under control by 8:05 p.m.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Unfortunately, authorities said, the family dog did not survive.
The fire was out at 8:42 p.m., but crews remained on the scene until 10:30 p.m., investigating the fire and searching for hot spots.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, authorities said, and an estimate of the damage is not yet available.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was assisted by the Crystal Lake Fire Department, Cary Fire Protection District, Carpentersville Fire Protection District, McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District and Wauconda Fire Protection District.
