MOD Pizza opens new location in New Lenox

Restaurant provided free pizza, donated profits during grand opening

A new location of the artisan-style pizza chain, MOD Pizza, recently opened in New Lenox.

MOD gave the first 52 customers free pizza and donated its opening day profits to the New Lenox School District 122 Foundation, according to a news release from the company. The chain held its event Jan. 18 at the new location, 651 E. Lincoln Highway.

MOD donated 100 percent of the day's profits to the NLSD122 Foundation to provide enhanced educational opportunities for the students of New Lenox, the release said. Ten elementary schools and two junior high schools in the district were expected to benefit from the money raised at the grand opening celebration.

"As a purpose-led brand, our motivation to bring MOD to new communities is driven by our desire to make a positive impact in the communities we serve," said Ally Svenson, co-founder and chief purpose officer of MOD Pizza. "We do this by offering well-paying jobs, career development opportunities and partnering with local nonprofits that support the community."

MOD's individual artisan-style pizzas are made on demand, using fresh-pressed dough and signature sauces. Customers can create their own pizzas and salads, or they can choose from a menu of MOD classics.

The price always remains the same — $8.27 for a MOD-size salad or pizza regardless of the number of toppings. Pizzas are hand-cooked, and salads are hand-tossed. The menu is rounded out with MOD's signature "No Name Cake," handspun milkshakes, house-made lemonades and iced teas, and local craft beer and wine. Visit modpizza.com for more information.
