Glenda Lee Gray

DIXON – Glenda Lee Gray, 84, of Dixon, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Dixon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Dixon, IL, surrounded by her family. She worked for Dixon Direct and Borg Warner prior to her retirement.

Glenda was born on December 28, 1934, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Stewart) Guffey. She married Harold Gray on July 18, 1970, in Dixon. Glenda was a member of the Moose Lodge 727, in the College of Regents, and The Red Hats Society. She received a blood donor award for numerous gallons of blood donated and volunteered over 4,000 hours at KSB Hospital in Dixon. Glenda also enjoyed gardening, cake decorating, crocheting, and tending to her flowers, but most of all spending time with her beloved family.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Harold Gray of Dixon; eight children, Jim (Athena) Bruner of Stone Mountain, GA, Jody (Rick) Spangler of Amboy, Lisa (Denny) O’ Bryant of Dixon, Tim (Shelly) Gray of Sterling, Lori (Jim Fridley) Cantrell of Dixon, Julie Gray of Amboy, Ken (Sharon) Gray of Dixon, and Crystal Schafer of Amboy; 29 grandchildren; 47 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joann (Ray) Earley Cain of Maynard, AR; and one sister-in-law, Pat Kitner of St. Charles, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Bonnie Balayti and Richard Gray; and one brother-in-law Garnett Gray.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon, on Friday, March 29, 2019, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon with Pastor Brian McWethy, officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association.
