Kids gym opens Monday at Westwood

Activity area provides day care for adult users

STERLING – The latest renovation project for Westwood Fitness & Sports Center will be unveiled Monday.

The new Kids Gym will open at 8 a.m. and provide a place for kids ages 3 months to 12 years to have a healthy yet playful option for activity while their parents visit Westwood, located at 1900 Westwood Drive.

Kids Gym will be open from 8 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Hours may change based on demand.

The service is free for Total Fitness Pass members and $4 per session for nonmembers. Reservations are required 24 to 36 hours in advance for children between the ages of 3 to 16 months. Reservations are recommended for all other children.

Kids are limited to a maximum of 2 hours a day in the Kids Gym.

The newly remodeled space features a mega-playground, interactive fitness equipment and a climbing wall. Also, there is a “passive” area where children can go to “take a break” in between or after their “active” period.

Kids Gym is an unlicensed childcare facility; only a parent or legal guardian may drop off a child in the area and then must remain at the facility throughout the child’s stay.
