General surgeon joins Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers

A local general surgeon recently finalized an affiliation agreement that merges his independent practice with Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers.

A native of Morris, Dr. James R. Allen has served on the Morris Hospital medical staff for more than 27 years.

The partnership allows Dr. Allen more time to focus on patient care, while Morris Hospital oversees the business management responsibilities associated with his practice.

Dr. Allen’s office location and phone number remain the same: 1300 W. Dresden Dr., Morris, 815-942-5200. The name of the practice has changed to Morris Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital.

As a board-certified general surgeon, Allen is specially trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions that may require surgical treatment, including preoperative, operative and postoperative management of care.

He has a specific interest in gastrointestinal endoscopy and surgery, laparoscopic surgery and breast cancer surgery.

A graduate of Southern Illinois University at Springfield, Dr. Allen completed a three-year residency at St. Luke’s Hospital and the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He joined the Morris Hospital Medical Staff in 1991.

He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Illinois Medical Society and the Society of General Surgeons.

Serving patients at 26 locations, Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers includes the 89-bed Morris Hospital, as well as physician offices in Braidwood, Channahon, Coal City, Dwight, Gardner, Marseilles, Mazon, Minooka, Morris, Newark, Ottawa and Yorkville.
