The Lake County Coroner has determined the cause of death for a 71-year-old Johnsburg man who died after getting hit by a truck in the parking lot of the McHenry Home Depot.
Coroner Howard Cooper said the victim, William Dammeyer, died of multiple traumatic injuries caused by being struck by a vehicle.
Officers responded at 12:41 p.m. Sunday to the Home Depot store, 2461 N. Richmond Road, according to a news release from McHenry police sent Monday.
An investigation determined that Dammeyer was struck by a 2008 GMC Sierra HD pickup truck that was traveling near the entrance of the store. Police have said 19-year-old Christian J. Zientko of McHenry was driving the truck.
Dammeyer was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital and then flown via Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Zientko was cited for disobeying a stop sign, according to the release. Polidori said additional charges may be filed, pending the results of an ongoing investigation.
