Helen M. Clayton

DIXON – Helen M. Clayton, 88, of Dixon, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Dixon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Dixon.

Helen was born August 26, 1930, in Dixon, Ill., the daughter of Jesus and Felipa (Molla) Melendrez. She married Richard L. Clayton on May 10, 1985, in Rock Falls, Ill. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2010. Helen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda (Neil) Kerchner of Dixon; three grandchildren, Michelle Kerchner of Dixon, Mitch (Courtney) Kerchner of Dunn N.C., Matt (Kim Kehl) Kerchner of Dixon; four great-grandchildren, Lincoln Kerchner, Morgan Kerchner, Rayna Kerchner, and Karly Kerchner; two brothers, Phil Melton and Ben Melendrez; two sisters, Connie Broderick and Dolly Biggerstaff.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Mary Steele, Alice Rodriquez, Jessie Melendrez, Julie Klosterman, Joseph Melendres, Donald Melendrez, and Steve Melendrez.

Private family graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Serenity Hospice in Oregon, Ill.
