Prep roundup: Sycamore softball sweeps doubleheader; Barbs softball beaten by St. Charles East

The Sycamore softball team picked up a home sweep of Woodstock North on Saturday, winning Game 1, 10-0, and Game 2, 8-2.
Milani Sablan won the first game for the Spartans (9-1-1), striking out 13 in a two-hitter. Emmalee Torson won
Game 2, giving up two earned runs and seven hits.
On the day, Faith Reynolds was 2 for 5, Mia Richards was 4 for 7 and drove in three runs, Kenzie Schlosser was 3 for 6 and drove in two, and Torson had two hits.
DeKalb falls to St. Charles East: The Barbs fell at home, 11-5. Mallory Warner hit a two-run homer in the loss.
"It's the little things it takes to succeed. We didn't do the little things today, and we didn't show up ready to play," DeKalb coach Haley Albamonte said. "Offensively, Katie Taylor, with a great hit to the right side, drove a couple runs in, and Mallory with a two-run home run. We left a lot of kids on base today, which we can't do against a great team."
IC swept by Amboy: The Timberwolves lost, 4-0 in the first game and 7-3 in the second.

PREP BASEBALL
Sycamore splits with Belvidere North: The Spartans squeaked out an eight-inning win in Game 1, 12-9, before falling, 6-3, in Game 2. Matt Cusumano drove in the first run in the eighth, part of a 2 -for-4 game in the win. Austin Steele and Jared Grubbs added RBI singles in the inning. Branden Dailey drove in two in the late-game loss.
Kaneland baseball sweeps Oswego: After winning on a walk-off in Game 1, 3-2, the Knights beat Oswego, 7-0, in the nightcap. In the seventh of Game 1, Jonathan Alstott singled, then, with two outs, Mike Rogers and Angel Acevedo singled to load the bases. Joe Born walked to push home the winning run.
In the late game, six pitchers each pitched one shutout inning for the Knights (7-5), amassing 13 strikeouts. Alijah Acevedo had two hits.
IC swept by Newark: Tim McNally had four hits over the two games, but the Timberwolves lost, 5-4 and 14-4.
Caleb Cursio was 2 for 4 in the first game, and Cooper Larsen was 2 for 3 in the second contest.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Porter grabs win at Les Hodge Invite: Kaneland's Porter Conroy leaped 5 feet, 10 inches, to claim first in the high jump at Batavia's Les Hodge Invite.
Cogs earn seventh: Genoa-Kingston was seventh in a 13-team field at Oregon's Gebhardt-Worley Invite, led by Randy Joos' second-place finish in the 400-meter run (52.29 seconds).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Barbs third at Huntley: DeKalb took third at Huntley's Jennifer Kearns Memorial.
Michaih Kirkwood won the 200 meters in 26.54 seconds, and Katherine Olsen took first in the 800 meters in 2:18.68.
Grabbing runner-up spots for DeKalb were Sydney Dumas in the 200 (26.91 seconds) and 100 (13.14 seconds), as well as Kathleen Walstrom in the 1,600 (5:32.83).
Cogs third at Oregon: Genoa-Kingston finished third with 77 team points at Saturday's meet in Oregon, falling to only Oregon and Erie-Prophetstown.
Winning events were Chloe Gallagher in the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches) and the 3,200- and 1,600-meter relays. Making up the 3,200 relay were Kaitlyn Jerbi, Alexandra Jerbi, Elaine Lin and Joely Overstreet. On the 1,600 relay were the Jerbis, Overstreet and Gallagher.
Royals led by Cleaveland at Mendota: Izabella Cleaveland took fourth in the 3,200 meter, with a time of 13:38.36, to lead Hinckley-Big Rock on Saturday at Mendota.

BOYS TENNIS
Barbs fall three times: DeKalb fell to Crystal Lake South, 5-0, Wheaton Warrenville South, 4-1, and Bartlett, 4-1.
Caleb Hoffman won his No. 2 singles match against Bartlett's Aaron Farabaugh, 7-6, 7-6. Emrys Draper won his No. 2 singles match over Wheaton Warrenville South's Sam Cox, 6-4, 6-4.

BADMINTON
Two thirds for Barbs: DeKalb had two third-place badminton finishers at the York invite. Abbey Brooks was third in No, 1 singles. The No. 3 doubles team of Elaine Paoletta and Ariana Pedraza also took third.
