AMBOY – Mary Ann Gould, age 72, of Amboy, died Sunday, April 14, 2019, at home
surrounded by her family.
She was born in Amboy on April 16, 1946, the daughter of Daniel T. and Eda Elva (Blan) Newman. Mary Ann worked as a housekeeper for Mapleside Manor in Amboy. She was also a waitress at the Long Branch Saloon and a cook at Trackside and Depot Tap in Amboy. Mary Ann enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and loved doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities and events. She was married to James Gould in Sterling on August 3, 1963.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Helen Fredericks, Shirley Gould, and Daphyne Full; one brother, Daniel “Gene” Newman.
Survivors include her husband; four children, James (Julie) Gould Jr. of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Timothy (Diane) Gould of Sterling, Tami (Jeff) Christoffersen, and Kim (Chris) Payne both of Amboy; nine grandchildren, Nick, Patrick, Mary Kate, Madilynn, Brett, Magan, Brody, Abigayle, and Trey; two brothers, Donald (Donna) Newman of Dixon and Dave (Laurel)
Newman of Stockton.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at 10 a.m. in the United First Church in Amboy with Pastor Jack Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
