Michael W. Carew

ROCK FALLS – Michael W. Carew, age 59, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Michael was born on February 6, 1960, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Paul and Ruth (Plummer) Carew of Sterling, Illinois. Michael was a Moose member who held several different positions on the board and ritual staff. Michael worked in the fast food industry until he received his MBA from Ashford University and became a GED and Adjunct teacher at SVCC for several years.

Michael enjoyed, in his spare time, watching the Rams, Cubs, Nascar, playing pool, and singing karaoke.

Survivors include, his significant other, Robin Vancil of Rock Falls; three sons, Josh and Zach Carew, both of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Phalen (Audrey) Vancil of Tampico; one daughter, Jennifer (Rudy) Swanson of Rock Falls; one sister, Carol (Steve) Reyes of Sterling; five grandchildren, Colin Carew, Hunter Bruketta, Kennedy Vancil, Levi (Meghan) Swanson, and Nikolas Swanson; two great-grandchildren, Linkyn and Kyiri Swanson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved cat, Spencer.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.
