Esther M. Brechon

DIXON – Esther M. Brechon, age 93, of Dixon, died Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born January 13, 1926, in Mendota, the daughter of Albert and Mary Gertrude (Jones) Widolff. She had farmed with her husband and sons; was a sales representative for Electrolux, Rawleigh Products, Watkins Products; and had also been the office secretary for Lee County HIA. She was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church, St Patrick Catholic Women’s Club and NAIM. Esther married Robert E. Brechon on January 20, 1951, in West Brooklyn.

Her husband preceded her in death on December 11, 1967. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dennis Brechon; her parents; her sister, Eleanor Van Hoose; and her brother, Joseph Widolff.

Esther is survived by two sons, Gerald Brechon and Gregory Brechon, both of Dixon; three daughters, Joyce (Mike) O’Brien of Amboy, Mary Lou Brechon of Henderson, NV, and Janet (Jan) Blackburn of Dixon; daughter-in-law, Julie Brechon of Polo; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, William (Betty) Widolff of Rock Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, beginning with a 10:00 AM Prayer Service at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. The Prayer Service will be followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon with the Rev. Keith Romke, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, with a Scripture Service at 7:30 PM.
