Roundup: Yorkville baseball rallies past Sycamore to snap losing streak

BASEBALL

Yorkville

The Foxes, who gave up seven runs to Sycamore in the top of the fifth inning, answered with eight runs in the bottom half and went on to a 15-8 win April 25, snapping a seven-game losing streak with their first conference win.

Cole Yearsley went 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBIs and four runs scored, and Josh Reifsteck went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored for Yorkville (10-13, 1-5). Evan May went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Ryan Shimp 2-for-5 with an RBI and run scored and Kyle Mack doubled and drove in two runs. Brett Rhodes earned the win in relief.

SOFTBALL

Yorkville

Amber Dasenbrock tripled and scored on Haylee Reyes' walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth inning of Yorkville's 6-5 win over Sycamore on April 25.

Teaghen Amwoza went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Dasenbrock was 3-for-3 for the Foxes (19-3, 4-2), who scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

Newark

Sophie Schomer struck out five and scattered seven hits in a complete-game effort, leading the Norsemen past Somonauk 8-0 on April 26. Emily Schofield had three hits, Kailey Wohead had two hits and Jocelyn Mitchell had two RBIs for Newark (18-5).

GIRLS SOCCER

Yorkville

Abby Wahl scored a goal assisted by Katie Straznikas and Marsden Fisher added an unassisted goal for the Foxes in a 2-0 win over Morris. Jazmine Ramos and Stephanie Perez each had a save in goal for Yorkville.
