LivingWell Cancer Resource Center to host annual Bridge Walk on May 18

LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, part of Northwestern Medicine, will hold its 14th Annual Bridge Walk at 8 a.m. May 18 at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva.

The Bridge Walk is a family-focused 5K walk that raises money and awareness for LivingWell Cancer Resource Center. Pets and strollers are welcome, and participants will enjoy food, refreshments and entertainment.

Interested individuals are invited to create teams of friends, family members, neighbors and co-workers who will raise funds to support LivingWell’s 120-plus programs and services. The center's offerings, which are free, include networking and support groups, educational programs, mind-body fitness classes, youth programs, art classes and psychological and nutritional counseling. All proceeds from the Bridge Walk will benefit these and other services at LivingWell.

The only comprehensive cancer care center in the western suburbs, LivingWell has served the needs of more than 24,000 people, providing services that encourage, educate and emotionally support people living with cancer, as well as their family members, caretakers and friends, according to a news release.

There is a $25 registration fee for adult participants (ages 13 and up) and a $15 fee for children ages 7-12, while children age 6 and younger, as well as cancer survivors, are free.
