Illinois property owners now can sign up for a free property fraud alert system.

Property fraud occurs when someone illegally uses your property for financial gain by recording a document at a county recorder’s office in an attempt to make it look like it belongs to the fraudster. It is the fastest growing white-collar crime, the FBI reports.
