Boyer in as new Clinton Rosette Middle School principal

DeKALB – Clinton Rosette Middle School will soon have a new principal, thanks to the DeKalb District 428 School Board, which voted Tuesday to appoint Brant Boyer to the role.

The board voted unanimously to hire Boyer as the new principal at Clinton Rosette Middle School, which came after news that Tim Vincent will be leaving the school to become a district administrator at the end of the 2018-19 school year.

Boyer currently holds the assistant principal position at Clinton Rosette, and on July 1 will begin a 260-day contract as the new principal, with an annual salary of $115,000, board documents show.

In an update to the board, Tammy Carson, district facilities operations supervisor, presented the inspection results from building inspections conducted in December by the Regional Office of Education, the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office and members of local fire departments.

“I’m very proud to say our department worked hard to reduce the violations by the fire code,” Carson said Tuesday.

Inspections include examining kitchens, classrooms, mechanical and furnace rooms, auditoriums, laboratories, showers and locker rooms, stairwells, and swimming pools, as well as exterior components of the buildings and fire escapes, according to board documents.

The results of the December inspections were presented to district administration in early 2019, and facility staff worked to correct as many violations as possible and resubmitted the results, according to board documents.

Brooks Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School and Tyler Elementary School had no violations at the time of the inspection, board documents show.

“I really attest that to our staff, custodial staff, teaching staff and administration to make sure we’re keeping codes at all time,” Carson said.

Tyler Elementary also is going to be expanding its school library to include more multicultural books, thanks to a donation from the Northern Illinois University Mortar Board, the university’s senior honor society.

The board accepted a $1,400 donation from the NIU Mortar Board, which will be used to purchase books that offer a wide range of titles and subjects for Tyler Elementary, the meeting agenda shows.
