STERLING – Rojelio “Roy” Garza, 65, of Sterling, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.
Born on May 24, 1954, in Morrison, he was a son of Daniel and Paula (Sandoval) Garza. Roy was a cement finisher and owned and operated RG Concrete. He was a member of Local 11 Union. He enjoyed playing guitar, music, doing remodeling projects, going to auctions, reading, and photography. He had a passionate love for animals of all kinds and loved being around people. He was a very outgoing person who will be missed by all who knew him. He also enjoyed traveling to Texas and Mexico.
Those left to honor his memory include his son, Chris Garza of Dixon; his stepfather, Joe Tijerina, of Sterling; his sisters, Hilda (Doug) Thielen of Sterling, Betty Garza of Sterling, and Elizabeth (Johnny) Chamorro of San Antonio, Texas; his brothers, Eloy Garza of Sterling, Amador (Trista) Garza of Sterling, Rafael Garza of Sterling, Wally (Colleen) Garza of Dixon, Rick (Laura) Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, Nickolas Fentress of Muscatine, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ismael Garza and Danny Garza Jr.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 30th at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31st at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls, with Pastor Jason Borton officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
A memorial in his memory has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home.
