Col. Barry Federici retires from U.S. Marine Corps

Col. Barry E. Federici of DeKalb retired from the United States Marine Corps earlier this year after 30 years of honorable service, including five deployments.

He was awarded both the Legion of Merit for multiple combat tours in Afghanistan, as well as the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for serving as chairman of the Department of Defense Investment Advisory Committee, which oversaw more than $1 trillion of investment funds.

Federici is married to Dr. Karen M. Federici and they have four children.

Col. Federici plans to open a financial services business, focused mainly on assisting veterans, next door to his wife’s medical office, Family First Physicians, in Sycamore.
