A new steak and seafood restaurant opened last week in Crystal Lake.
815 Chop House opened its doors to the public Wednesday. The business is at the former M Supper Club site, 394 W. Virginia St. The M Supper Club closed in March. Now Scott Behnke and his wife, Morgan Behnke, of Lakewood hope to fill the gap.
Scott Behnke has 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry. Lifelong Crystal Lake resident Alex Gilmaldi will serve as head chef at 815 Chop House.
“I saw an opportunity,” Scott Behnke said. “I loved the building. It’s exactly what I am looking to do at this point in my career.”
He described the restaurant as a family-friendly, casual fine-dining place. The menu includes steaks, chops, seafood, burgers, sandwiches, flatbreads and alcohol. A traditional Friday fish fry also will be offered, Scott Behnke said.
815 Chop House offers locally sourced and fresh, never frozen, food, he said.
“We are very family-friendly and offer affordable pricing for an exceptional product,” he said. “It’s not just going out to dinner. We offer a great experience, great customer service, quality food and top-notch cocktails.”
815 Chop House’s kitchen is open from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is closed Mondays.
M Supper Club opened in 2017 under the ownership of Dave Perlick, George Kanellos, Jim Kanellos, Dennis Koukounaras and Niko Kanakaris. It moved into the site that formerly housed London Pub & Grill. M Supper Club was billed as offering "Midwestern comfort with a touch of class."
