DeKALB – A DeKalb woman was cited for failing to yield at an intersection Monday which resulted in a collision in front of the Target on Sycamore Road, DeKalb police said.

McKayla Layton, 24, of DeKalb, was heading south on Sycamore Road in a white 2000 Volkswagen, in front of Target about 2:30 p.m. Monday. DeKalb police Sgt. Mark Tehan said an investigation found she had failed to yield to a 2018 red Jeep, driven by Pedro Hernandez-Rosales, 47, of DeKalb.

The two vehicles crashed and the drivers received minor injuries, Tehan said. There were no other passengers in either vehicle, and both drivers refused treatment and declined to be taken to a nearby hospital, he said.

Layton was given a citation for failure to yield. Upon further inspection, police learned Hernandez-Rosales did not have a valid driver's license, Tehan said.

Hernandez-Rosales was arrested and taken to the DeKalb County Jail, where he posted bail and was release, Tehan said.
