Crystal Lake police have charged three spa employees with prostitution after an undercover investigation revealed three illegal massage therapy businesses in the city, according to the Crystal Lake Police Department.
Police suspected that three Crystal Lake day spas and massage facilities were operating without a valid city permit and conducted an investigation. Officers posed as customers at JJ’s Massage, 5899 Route 14; Crystal Spa, 386 W. Virginia St.; and Infinity Day Spa, 435 Angela Lane, Unit 8, police said.
At each business, massage therapy services were provided without a valid city permit. Employees also tried to engage in sexual acts with the officers in exchange for a payment, police said, and the buildings also had numerous code violations.
Qianyu Warren, 32, of Woodstock; Changiuan He, 53, of San Gabriel, California; and Soon D. Kim, 60, of Flushing, New York; were all charged with prostitution.
Each posted bond and was released from custody, police said.
None of the women had a valid Illinois Massage Therapy License as required. Additional violations of city ordinances pertaining to business permit violations also were cited.
No evidence of human trafficking was discovered during the investigation, police said.
This remains a pending investigation with the city of Crystal Lake Building and Zoning Division for the building code violations.
The women are next expected to appear in court at 9 a.m. July 2.
