Oswego police have arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting that occurred at 10:15 a.m. in the 0-100 block of Wingate Drive in the village’s Ogden Falls subdivision.
In a statement, police identified the suspects as Keyonte C. Jones, 20, of the 40th block of Wingate Drive, Oswego, and Corey A. Pryor, 18, of the 1200 block of Apple Tree Lane, Aurora.
The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Jones with aggravated discharge of a firearm, and Pryor has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Jones was transported to the Kendall County Jail in Yorkville pending a court hearing, while Pryor posted bond and was released pending a court appearance.
Police said they were summoned to Jones’ Wingate Drive residence on a report of an altercation between three individuals who were acquaintances. Police said officers quickly located the three individuals and subsequently transported Jones and Pryor to the police station for questioning.
Through their investigation, police said they determined that two men had arranged to meet at Jones’ residence for an alleged drug and/or firearm deal when an altercation began. Police said they believe that as Pryor attempted to leave the scene in his vehicle, Jones fired a semi-automatic pistol at Pryor. A bullet struck Pryor’s vehicle, which then crashed into a tree. Pryor was not injured in the crash, police said.
Concerning Pryor’s misdemeanor charge, police said the suspect was found to have a firearm in his possession without either a valid Firearm Owners Identification Card or a concealed carry license.
In their statement, Oswego police said they wished to thank the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery Police Department, Aurora Police Department and the Kendall County Criminal Intelligence Team for their assistance.
