New associate judge selected after retirement of Judge William Brady

YORKVILLE – A new associate judge has been selected to fill the vacancy of a retiring judge within the 23rd judicial circuit, which consists of Kendall and DeKalb counties.

Joseph C. Pedersen of Malta will be filling the position following the retirement of Judge William P. Brady, according to a news release from the Kendall County Courthouse. Pedersen will be sworn in for his four-year term on July 31 at the DeKalb County Courthouse and will take the bench beginning Aug. 1.

Kendall County Chief Judge Bob Pilmer said in the statement that he's excited to have Pedersen join the judiciary ranks in the 23rd judicial circuit.

"He's a hard worker with an excellent reputation," Pilmer said in the statement. "He'll be a great judge."

Pedersen currently serves as an assistant U.S. Attorney in Rockford and is responsible for criminal and civil prosecutions. Before that, he was an assistant state's attorney in DeKalb County and has been an attorney for 23 years.

Pedersen was selected from a group of 16 applicants. Brady's term ends June 30.

The announcement also comes after the court said in a separate news release that Associate Judges John F. McAdams, Marcy L. Buick, Joseph R. Voiland and Philip G. Montgomery have been reappointed to four-year terms beginning July 1.
