Police: Man caught with loaded guns, marijuana

Police say suspect had 2 guns inside his home

A 35-year-old man was arrested after Bolingbrook officers found two loaded handguns and marijuana inside his home, police said.

About 6 a.m. Friday, officers served a search warrant at a residence in the first block of Fernwood Drive, Bolingbrook police Lt. Anthony Columbus said in an email.

Columbus said the search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation into the sale of narcotics from the residence.

When the officers served the search warrant at the residence, they recovered marijuana and packaging materials, Columbus said.

The officers also recovered two loaded handguns, and one of them had been reported stolen, he said.

Roger W. Garner Jr., who lives at the residence, was taken into custody as a result, Columbus said. Garner also was implicated in the sale of narcotics, he said.

Garner was booked into the Will County jail after his arrest.

Garner faces three counts of a possession of a weapon by felon charge and one count of a manufacturing or delivering between 30 and 500 grams
of marijuana, according to court records.

All the charges are considered
Class 3 felonies, which are punishable by two to five years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.

In 2017, Garner was convicted of manufacturing or delivering marijuana.
