PRINCETON — Terry L. Harmon, 59, of Princeton passed away Friday, June 21, 2019, at his home following a short illness.
He was born in Spring Valley on Dec. 16, 1959, to Edward and June (Chelin) Harmon. In 1997, he married Amy L. Kohr at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. She survives.
Terry was a 1978 graduate of Princeton High School. He first worked at the family-owned Harmon Lumber Co. (now R.P. Lumber), where he remained for the next 38 years until his death.
While still in school, he joined the Princeton Civil Defense and later spent 25 years as a volunteer firefighter for the Princeton Fire Department.
Terry had a lifelong interest in trucks. He restored a 1949 KB-11 International, which is in the Walcott Truck Stop in Walcott, Iowa, where his name is still on the door. He enjoyed building models and collecting model trucks. He was also the go-to guy for trivia questions about 60s and 70s music.
He was a faithful member of the Princeton Moose Lodge.
Terry is survived by his parents; a daughter, Ashley Sconzo-Ward (Amara Ward) of Fulton; and his brother, Kent (Cindy) Harmon of Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father-in law; and aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Pursuant to his request there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Princeton Fire Department, Princeton Moose Lodge or Friends of Strays in Princeton.
