Police: Lake in the Hills standoff ends peacefully

A police standoff in Lake in the Hills ended peacefully Thursday after about three hours with one man being detained by police, said Ashley Eccles, the department’s public information officer.

About 9:42 a.m. the Lake in the Hills Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District received a report of a suicidal subject in a home in the Horizon Ridge subdivision.

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 Block of Horizon Ridge.

To secure the scene, nearby residential streets including Cunat Court and Horizon Ridge at E. Oak Street were shut down. There was no threat to the public, Eccles said. About 12:30 p.m., the situation was resolved without incident or injuries.

There are no criminal charges pending, Eccles said in an email to the Northwest Herald.

Lake in the Hills issued an Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm system and police from surrounding agencies including West Dundee, Oakwood Hills and Carpentersville police responded.
