Gerald ‘Sully’ Sullivan

PRINCETON — Gerald D. “Sully” Sullivan, 93, of Princeton died at 7:57 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, at the LaSalle Veterans Home in LaSalle.

He was born May 13, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Denis and Mary (Sullivan) Sullivan. He married Linda I. Jackson May 20, 1994, in Princeton. She survives.

Sully served in the Merchant Marines prior to serving in the U.S. Army in Germany. He retired from Prairie View Nursing Home and later worked part-time for the Princeton Police Department as a crossing guard.

Sully is a past member of the Princeton Lions Club, a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and attended the Bureau Township Community Church. He loved to roller skate and was an avid bicycle rider.

Also surviving are three children, Jerryann Sullivan of Princeton, Anita (John) Thompson of Glenview and Roger (Susan) Bowden-Jackson of Ottawa; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Sister Marie Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Sullivan; and one sister-in law, Jackie Sullivan.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with Deacon John Murphy and the Rev. Patrick Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Princeton with military rites conducted by Princeton American Legion Post 125.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the LaSalle Veterans Home.
