Betty Mae (Rosenberg) Basler

OREGON – Betty Mae (Rosenberg) Basler, 88, from Oregon, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the Oregon Living and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Oregon, Illinois to Rinder (RJ) Rosenberg and Jenny (Oltman) Rosenberg. Betty was a lifelong resident or Oregon, a graduate of Oregon High School in 1948, and attended Central College in Pella, Iowa. On October 26, 1950 Betty married her high school sweetheart, John (Jack) Basler, with a small ceremony at the Rosenberg family farm in Oregon. Betty and Jack celebrated their 63-year wedding anniversary prior to Jack’s passing in 2013. Betty worked as a cook at both, the Oregon High School and Middle School for ten years. She was also the office manager for Jacks business (Rochelle Oil Co.) for 16 years.

Betty had many passions in life which included her family, and spoiling her grandkids and great-grandchildren. Betty also had a love for cooking, canning, and bridge (which she became a Life Master in 2002). She will be greatly missed for her consistent smile and love of life. Betty always looked out for the underdog in life and treated everyone as a friend. She will also be remembered for her ability to use any occasion for a family get-together or host a celebration for friends.

Grateful for having been blessed to share in her life are her four children, Jeff (Cindy Kowa), Ft. Meyers, Florida, Robb (Terri Zolondek) Crystal Lake, Jennifer (Dave) Bakener, Oregon, and Janna (Dave) Bredeson, Marietta, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
