Gerald L. Hartman

ROCK FALLS – Gerald L. Hartman, age 80 of Rock Falls died Friday, July 19, 2019 at Rock River Hospice and Home, Sterling.

Gerald was born on April 23, 1939 in Sterling, the son of Clifton and Laverne (Eilers) Hartman. He married Rosalie Anderson on September 6, 1959 in Sterling. Gerald was a plant manager at Northwestern Steel and Wire where he had worked for 34 years before retirement. He enjoyed farming, woodworking and beekeeping.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Rosalie; three daughters, Jandy (Kenneth) Arnold of Princeton, Julie (Trenton) Thompson of Chatham, IL and Jennifer (Calvin) Deetz of Rock Falls; one son, James (Dawn) Hartman of Rock Falls; one sister, Ruth Ramirez of Sterling; one brother, Ronald Hartman of Sterling; and five grandchildren, Kelby, Celine, Alec, Bryce and Brady.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wallace and Gene.

A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Bethel Church in Sterling. Memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. with Reverend Ken Zuithoff officiating.
