The Huntley Village Board approved plans Thursday for a 4,515-square-foot Thorntons gas station and convenience store, as well as a 5,000-square-foot car wash, on the northwest corner of Route 47 and Kreutzer Road.
The gas station will include 10 fueling dispensers that will provide 20 positions for vehicles. The site plan also shows parking for 40 vehicles, which is more than double the required number of spaces.
The car wash will have parking for 18 vehicles in addition to three stacking lanes that could accommodate about 27 vehicles before the pay canopy.
Parking stalls will be
10 feet wide and 20 feet deep, which also exceeds the minimum required dimensions. The building's main entrance will be oriented toward Route 47, and a secondary entrance to the convenience store will be along the rear elevation of the building.
Access to the gas station and car wash would be achieved through a right-in, right-out driveway on Route 47; a right-in on Kreutzer Road; and a full-access driveway at the intersection of Kreutzer and Princeton Drive.
Trustee Ronda Goldman said during Thursday’s Village Board meeting that she was worried about how the access points may affect a route on Kreutzer Road going into the Walgreens at 12000 Princeton Drive.
The Illinois Department of Transportation reviewed the plans for the access points and provided conceptual approval of the access and road improvements, according to village documents.
Although other Thorntons locations have applied for it, Huntley Village Manager Dave Johnson said this proposal did not include a video gambling request.
