Inmate sentenced for assaulting two Kendall County corrections officers

YORKVILLE – A Chicago man was sentenced to a decade in prison after being charged with assaulting two Kendall County Jail deputies.

Kendall County Judge Melissa Barnhart sentenced Roy White, 30, of the 1600 block of Narragansett Avenue in Chicago, to ten years in the Illinois Department of Corrections this week for aggravated battery to corrections officers, according to a news release from the Kendall County State's Attorney's office. White must serve at least 50% of the sentence before being eligible for supervised release, or parole, and White must serve a two-year parole term in addition to the prison sentence, the release said.

According to the release, charges were filed against White back in January 2017 while he was a prisoner in the Kendall County Jail in Yorkville. The release said White filled up a bottle with urine and feces and threw the excrements at two female corrections deputies who arrived to provide lunch to jail inmates. The feces and urine struck both deputies, the release said.

At the time of the incident, White was being held at the Kendall County Jail for Cook County. In a little more than two years, the release said, White had more than 60 disciplinary issues with Cook County, Kendall County and the Illinois Department of Corrections. Those incidents included assaulting correctional guards, damage to property, lewd behavior and exposing genitals to guards, the release said.

The Kendall County sentence will be served back-to-back with a 31-year sentence from Cook County and a 20-year sentence from Jefferson County, the release said.

Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis said the Cook County sentence was for attempted murder, which was outside of custody. He said the Jefferson County sentence was for the possession of a weapon or contraband in a correctional facility.
