The Cary Firefighters Association is having its annual Water Fights on Saturday at Station 1, 400 Cary Algonquin Road, Cary.
The event opens at 2:30 p.m., and the fights start at 3 p.m. It will be free and open to the public.
The Cary firefighters will challenge other departments in a water battle, where two teams will use hose lines to push an empty barrel past the goal line.
Food and beverages can be bought, with free beer donated by The Tracks of Cary.
Eleven teams from fire departments across the area took part in last year’s event, with a team from the Wilmot Fire Department taking home first place.
The event has been going on for more than 20 years, officials have said.
