Lockport Police Department receives state accreditation

The Lockport Police Department and Chief Terry Lemming are pleased to announce that the Department has been accredited through the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police’s Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP).

This prestigious program recognizes organizations that have achieved excellence in law enforcement services.

The department was assessed on the basis of 67 separate ILEAP standards regarding administration, operations, training, and personnel.

To successfully complete the accreditation process, the policies and procedures must reflect the standards established by ILEAP, and the Department must also demonstrate that it is following said policies and procedures.

Accreditation confirms that the Department has achieved a level of professionalism among our law enforcement peers and validates the methods in which department members provide services to the residents and the general public in our community.

In addition to improving the agency’s relationship with the community, accreditation promotes accountability and reduces liability and risk exposure.
