HOLLAND, Mich. — On Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, Marjorie Ellen Zimmerman, loving wife and mother of four children, passed away at the age of 88. She spent the past year living with her daughter in Holland, Mich.
Marjorie was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Morton, Ill., to Alfred and Salome Carius. She received her RN from the Methodist Hospital in Peoria, and married her high school sweetheart, Ray, in December of 1952.
They raised four children, Barbara Ellen, Susan Salome, David Ray and Beth Lydia.
Marjorie was a longtime resident of Princeton. Her husband, Ray, built and owned the Princeton Dairy Queen for well over 30 years.
Marjorie was an adventurous woman who lived life to the fullest. She never saw a sunset or a full moon she didn’t stop and admire. She ran her first marathon at the age of 50 and canoed the Yukon in her 70s with her son. She spent countless hours playing with her grandchildren, and never tired of being with children of all ages. Marjorie had a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her faith was evident in the generous and kind way she lived her life.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray. She is survived by her four children, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
